Six ways we lay asphalt
The mix and the build-up change with the load. A farm yard carrying loaded trailers is not a residential driveway, and we do not quote them the same way.
Industrial parking lots
Large-area paving built for constant traffic and turning, with drainage falls set so water leaves the surface rather than sitting on it.
Loading ramp systems
Ramps and dock approaches take more punishment than anything else on a site. We build them deeper and bind the edges properly.
Roadway
Private roads, estate access and municipal work, laid to the specified build-up with the base checked before anything is paved.
Commercial paving
Retail, multi-unit and institutional sites, scheduled around trading hours so the car park is usable when your customers arrive.
Agriculture paving
Yards, laneways and equipment pads built to carry loaded machinery through a wet spring without breaking up at the edges.
Residential paving
Driveways and approaches, laid clean to the edge and finished so the joint with your garage and the road is tidy.
Not sure what the ground needs?
Tell us the area and what drives over it. We will tell you whether it needs resurfacing or a full rebuild, and what each would cost.
How an asphalt job runs
Most residential driveways are done in a day. Commercial lots are scheduled in phases so part of the site stays open.
Site survey
We measure the area, check the existing base and look at how water currently leaves the site.
Excavate and prepare
Dig out to the required depth, lay and compact granular base to the build-up the load needs.
Pave
Asphalt laid and compacted while hot, with falls set so water runs where it should.
Finish and open
Edges trimmed, joints sealed, line marking where required. Light traffic the same day.
Resurfacing or full rebuild?
If the base underneath is still sound, resurfacing gives you a new wearing course for considerably less than a full rebuild. If it has failed, overlaying it only buys you a year or two.
We check the base before quoting and tell you which one you are actually looking at, including when the honest answer is the cheaper one.
